I agree it sounds like chostrochondritis in the ribs. I got that a couple of years ago and it still acts up sometimes. It took a long while for it to get better initially and now it's like everywhere else affected by inflammation, when it rains or gets cold, it hurts for a few days.

I have shoulder problems too -- AC joint inflammation on both shoulders and torn rotator cuff in the right one. I know so many people who have had shoulder surgery with no positive results after (and it's a very long recovery) that I elected not to have surgery four years ago. It got better after about a year and now in the last six months, it's gotten worse again. However I'm planning to wait it out. It hurts a lot sometimes, and other times just a little. I am limited in what I can do (no carrying heavy stuff, sometimes not driving for a few days, etc.). It generally gets better for a while then I do something stupid like carry in heavy bags of groceries and it starts up hurting again.

I've had some joint reconstructions over the years and everything I've read about shoulder surgery makes me think that's not the answer for me.

Hope you get an appt soon. If one doc say surgery, be sure to get one or two other opinions. Good luck!!

Thanks Connie! I will definitely check into the chostrochondritis. I have never heard of it. It has almost 6 weeks since I hurt my shoulder and 4 weeks since I hurt my sternum/rib area. Definitely getting the second opinion.

That sounds awful. If there's issues with your shoulder bone, then something needs to be done. And it sounds like chostrochondritis in your ribs. That is very painful but should be healing by now. Getting a second opinion is worth it for sure.
