It is hard to believe how many funerals I have gone to in the past several months. My dear friend, Betty, her grandson, Jeff Harter, passed away. He was only 41 years old. He was in CCU (Critical Care Unit) on a ventilator. He would have needed a lung, heart and liver transplant to live. Finding a compatiable donor for all 3 of these organs and finding them in time would have been a miracle. He didn’t want to live anymore like he was being hooked to a machine. His loving mother, Judy, stayed by his side 24/7 the whole time he was in the hospitals. She told me it is a terrible shame to have to bury one of your own children.
I think about how lucky my mom is to have all 4 of her children live as long as we have. We all have health problems of different kinds but some are the same. Three of us have diabetes.
At Jeff’s funeral, there were 2 other Jeffs that participated in the funeral services. One sang and the other was a Highlander Bagpiper, Jeff Linn. Jeff Linn played Amazing Grace. I was in awe. At the end of the service he played and lead the people to follow him out of the funeral home so the family could spend a few minutes with their beloved Jeff Harter with another amazing song playing tribute to him.

Thank goodness for your faith to get you through all of this. I’m so sorry for your loss.
