We have been trying to figure out still where to go for a short vacation with the continuing rise in gas prices. Since my youngest daughter is graduating soon and she wants a graduation party, we have been conserving our money. Also, one of her dad’s jobs is closed for part of the summer, which makes finances tight for him. We were talking last night about our financial situations for the summer. He also told me that his brother was coming down for Heather’s graduation. I told him I have the extra bedroom in my house that his brother can stay in while here. It will be great to see my ex-brother-in-law. I haven’t seen him since he was in the hospital from his liver transplant several years ago when we all drove up to see him there.
Last week, my ex-mother-in-law called me and asked if I was interested in coming to stay in a cabin out of town with her and her husband and 5 other family members for Father’s Day weekend. I told her it would be so nice to be around the family. She told me that she still had to call and see if any cabins were available for the size of the family and how much. That is when I realized that it was going to be another unexpected expense of sharing the cabin cost, gasoline, food and beverages added to my already tight budget for the month of June. The saying, can’t win for losing, seems to be my motto for the month of June.
