Yesterday, I woke not feeling well after falling asleep on the couch watching a TV show and not taking my shot of Lantus nor my prescription medications. The weather was just plain yucky. So I spent the day resting and getting my energy back up.
Today, I woke with a renewed energy. I am slowly working on redoing my bathroom. I finally got 99% of the wallpaper border all down. Used a neat spray called Diff that was great at removing the wallpaper glue. Made the job quick and easy.
I started going back to visiting at the nursing home last week Friday. Felt good to see some of the residents that I knew before I broke my leg still there. I decided to go today after the rain stopped. As soon as I walked in the door of the nursing home I received a big hug from the receptionist. She was so happy to see me come back. I told her I had missed her and the residents there.
As I walked down the halls and passed the doors of the residents’ rooms, I thought about the wonderful different residents that had lived in those rooms before when I visited a year and a half ago that have since passed on. I remember their faces, their smiles and tears. The Lord had placed those special people in my life for a short while, but they all had a direct effect on me. I will miss them. The other side is there are still about 12 of the original 33 residents that I use to visit still there. With my leg and the distance of walking on hard flooring, 12 people and 5 hours later I was content and tired. I had received lots of hugs today. I sure felt the love from my old friends. I will go back next week.
Need to get to bed soon. I must remember to take better care of myself by taking my night medications and insulin shot and not over do it.

Isn’t it a good feeling when we do things for other people? We get our minds off of our own problems. Just knowing that a friendly smile can make a difference must make you feel great!
