Sorry haven’t been on much lately. Have spent most of this weekend sleeping. Got nauseous Friday night. Chills and fever on Saturday. My blood sugars have been going up and down. Hard to control even when I haven’t eaten much.
Decided to try to go to church. It was not suppose to be my weekend to run the computer. Within a few minutes I found out who was suppose to run the computer, but she had a flat tire on her car and could not make it. I ended having to do it. I wasn’t feeling my best but knew God was counting on me this morning. I did my best even made a few boo boos. God knows I am not perfect, only Jesus is the perfect one. The Pastor talked about we are to strive for the best and being perfect like Jesus.
After church the pastor came up to me and we talked. He could see I wasn’t feeling well. He gave me a hug and I started crying. He told me everything was going to be okay. I really don’t like the weekend blues.
This past Friday, my youngest daughter had a college visit the campus day. I had to take her as she does not have a car yet and still has to relay on ole’ mom to take her. The campus was very nice for a secondary campus to the main university one that is out of town.
My youngest daughter is getting an eye opener as to the cost of going to college finally. I have to tried in the past year to help her with obtaining scholarships. She has rejected my help. Today, she found out what it is going to cost her per quarter, $4,800. I thought she was going to fall off her chair.
After the talk from the Freshman adviser and tour of the campus, my daughter and I had a talk about how she was going to afford the first quarter at college. She told me she had it all figured out. I chuckled at her certainty about the cost of college, no vehicle to get her there other than a taxi or a bus which she will not ride. She has so much growing up to do. Oh let’s not forget she is moving out. Her boyfriend lives in his mom’s basement. Maybe she will let them live there together. I am not going through what I did a year ago with her other boyfriend/fiance whose parents threw him out of their house and he moved in with us on my couch for 4 months. He wouldn’t work hardly at all. At least her boyfriend now has a steady job working 3 to 4 days a week.
The young people of today have so much given to them. They think mom and dad should provide everything. Each generation wants the next generation to not have it so hard as their generation. However, it has its demise. State labor laws prohibit in some states that the teen can not start work till they are 17. I started working when I was 14. Most 16 years old in our town that have a brand new car and don’t work are the rudest teens. Either their parents are rich or they are dealing drugs to obtain the brand new cars. We live in an area of the country that is counted by the United States government as economic depressed area. There are less jobs than the number of people. So how the heck do 16 year olds afford brand new $30,000 cars?
Yesterday was another snow day for the school kids due to the sunshine turning the snow to ice. My youngest daughter does not like being stuck at home with her parents like most teenagers. This type of day is the usual “get caught up day”.
As a parent I mean get caught up on cleaning her bedroom, doing her laundry and clean up your dishes and drinking glasses after yourself day for my teenager. Of course, as a teenager she is rebellious. She would rather spend her time on her cell phone. Well, she has talked so much, she has drained the battery on it. Been on the charger for 24 hours, still will not hold a charge. She would rather sit in the middle of her bed full of junk and try to study or sleep.
She did work on her senior paper that is due in soon on the computer for a while. Next thing I know she is walking out the front door telling me she is going to a friend’s house. I asked if her room was cleaned, no reply. I know she has not done her laundry. One day when she is on her own, she will realize all that her parents have done and provided for her. Hopefully, she will apologize to me for the way she treats me so disrespectfully. When I was her age of 18, I would not have talked to my mom or dad like that or I wouldn’t have sat down for a week or had a place to sleep, if you know what I mean. It was not child abuse, it was not getting away with being rude or rebellious to my parents.
This kind of stress is not good for my diabetes. Every time my daughter is stuck at home on a snow day, she always makes mine and her dad’s day a miserable one. She is constantly threatening to move out when she graduates from high school. I always tell her good luck on finding an apartment she can afford and pay for a vehicle, insurance, all the utilities and deposits to an apartment. I am not going to put up with this much longer. She graduates in 3 months.
Getting into my tub shower is painful for me a lot of the times. Ever since I broke my left leg last year and my lumbar stenosis in my back, many times it is difficult for me to step over the side of the tub due to the height causing me severe pain. Getting into a regular hot tub is impossible. I found the perfect solution, a great website remainactive.com that has walk in tubs. I love the design of being able to just walk in and sit and relax in an enclosed tub with bathtub safety rails and hand held shower head. Can hardly wait to have one installed in my bathroom! This would truly be very relaxing to remove the pain and stress.
I have spent over half the day shoveling snow. Below the snow, is ice. Had to chip away at the icy mess. My back is hurting so much. I am physically exhausted. A man was going around on our street shoveling people’s sidewalks and driveways. I watched how he was doing on other people’s property. Not a very good job, he was only taking off the snow and not the ice. That is dangerous for my neighbors to walk out of their homes.
So I opted out of having him do it when he approached me and told me $20 to do the job. After the physical exercise of all that work, I am extremely exhausted.
After getting in the house and sitting down for 30 minutes, one of my family member’s finally made it home from their out of town job. He had been stuck there since Friday, because of the Level 3 Snow Emergency. Anyway, he decided to attempt to go up into the driveway and got stuck. We had to dig him out of the ice. This added to my already being exhausted. He was exhausted from having to sleep at the University on a couch for two nights plus working, then driving carefully home. He told me he saw vehicles off the side of the road in the ditch that had slid off from the ice. I am so glad he got home safely.
Now if my youngest daughter would just get home, I would be happy. She is out running around with her boyfriend, instead of helping me here at home. Teenagers aren’t very helpful nowadays with their parents.
I had two friends, Tara and Paul, who were born in India. They now live in the United States. Their families still live in India. I know they miss talking to them on a regularly bases. Finding a more affordable method of calling home, especially near a holiday, is important for them.
Phonecardsavenue.com has india phone cards for the inexpensive prices between 3 to 4 cents a minute. They also have a 3% cash back rebate program for every calling card or phone card that is purchased. I know my friends will be glad that they will be able to talk to their parents and relatives more often at such a reasonable price.
I know a lot of people are writing about the time changing tomorrow. Many people change their clocks on Saturday night before going to bed, since the time change is at 2 AM on Sunday morning.
Daylight Savings Time, DST, is also known as Summer Time in Britain. Some people in the past suggested that Benjamin Franklin invented the daylight savings time. William Willet actually invented DST in 1905. It was introduced in 1907 in a pamphlet, Waste of Daylight. On April 30, 1916 a year after his death, European countries started using DST. The United States did not start until 1918.
The purpose of daylight savings time is to move the clocks forward one hour in the Spring and back one hour in the Fall or Autumn. It allowed for an extra hour of daylight in the afternoon and allowing saving on usage of electricity and heating and cooling.
Until 2007, DST has always begins at 2 AM on the first Sunday in April and ends at 2 AM on the last Sunday of October in most of the United States. Now since 2007, it has been changed to begin at 2 AM on the 2nd Sunday of March and ends at 2 AM on the 1st Sunday of November. This change came into affect due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
I wish the government would stop messing with the time. It sure goes by fast enough for me. It takes weeks for my body to adjust to losing that extra hour of sleep. It messes with my internal time clock with eating and sleeping.
Guess I better go change my clocks now. It won’t make a difference in the morning as it is still snowing and church service is canceled in the morning due to the weather. God is giving us a blessing of getting to sleep in after all.
A family member of mine has bad credit. She is planning a trip this summer and needs a rental car. To obtain a rental car she will need a credit card. Obtaining a bad credit credit card is easy to get instantly online. She will be able to compare the top 10 credit card companies that will assist with people who have bad credit. Now she will be able to get the help she needs with a credit card.
Throughout the night I heard snow thunder. Ice or sleet came pelting on my house. When the larger pieces hit upon my aluminum awnings, it sounded like gunshots going off. It scared me as I had never heard anything sound this loud and multiple times inside my home. Being home alone and loud noises are not good for my nerves.
This morning after getting some broken sleep, I checked the local TV station to find out what was happening with the weather. The city officials have placed us under a Level 3 Snow Emergency. This means only emergency vehicles and law enforcement, and of course, the postal carriers are allowed on the streets. I did see quite a few other vehicles struggling to drive on the street across from my house.
There is ice under the snow, my postal carrier informed me. He said he had a time walking his route today. I asked why he was out in Level 3 weather. He told me the post office is exempt, they have to deliver mail on their routes. I asked if he wanted a cup of coffee to take with him. I said he had something to drink in his truck. Don’t know how he keeps his drink warm in this weather.
Anyway, I am house bound by myself with the height of the icy snow. Both family members are stuck some place else and can’t get here. I received a call from the pastor’s daughter telling me they are canceling tomorrow’s church servic. They are afraid people will get injured trying to walk and drive to get to church. So another quiet day tomorrow, until my family members can get home.
