These are 2 small vintage crocks with lids
and handles of Red Wing Provincial Ware 22. The crocks and handle are
beige/tannish color. The first photograph looks yellowish but only
photo light cast this color. The inside of the crock is reddish brown.
The lids are reddish brown. On sides of crocks is stamped into the
crock "Red Wing Provincial Ware 22". The crock and lid, measure 2 7/8"
tall. The crocks are 4 3/8" across, handle 2 1/4". Can be washed. The
crocks have some discoloration some due to age or use. There are no
chips or cracks. Make great soup, chili or bean crocks. Display pieces
of American Pottery History for other's to see for generation to come.
I am not sure of the age of this piece,
since the Red Wing Pottery Co. closed its doors in 1967. That is 40
years ago. The company originated back in 1878. I do know that the
Provincial Ware was introduced in 1951, 56 years ago. I have tried to
describe this item to the best of my ability.
